About this time last year I was clearly bored and so I launched a first Polish chatmail server: mailchat.pl. One year later and it's still up and running which I consider my little success. Setting it up wasn't as straightforward as I initially thought. Once it was done, though, the server hasn't required much maintenance. What I do on a regular basis are standard OS updates (it's plain Ubuntu), plus the updates from the chatmail repo. If you were to believe the numbers we have approximately 150 users, but it's hard to say how many of them are truly active. What I do know is that unused accounts are removed after 100 days. This mechanism, among others, ensures the efficient functioning of the instance, and takes some of the duties off the admin (i.e. me). So yeah, it's been a good year of uninterrupted service 😎
